I have always been fascinated by ancient languages since the time when as a young girl I saw a travelling exhibition of King Tutankhamen. Researching the origins of writing, I have studied North American petroglyphs and the language of the Sumerians.
Prior to the development of cunneiform, the Sumerians used an iconographic system of syllables. These picrograms spoke to me. Within in them I saw an ancient code that sounded in poetry and brought forth images which I transcribed in a calligraphic way.
At the present time, I have produced 113 images and each of these has at least one corresponding poem. together the poems form a saga that speaks to our distant origians and to the never-ending journey of the human spirit.
